Happy Hour Horticulture
Kokedama workshop in the garden at Haiku AVL.
Learn the art of kokedama — a Japanese-inspired planting style where roots are wrapped in moss to create a living, sculptural plant.
In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll be guided step-by-step in creating your own kokedama to take home. No experience needed — just come ready to get your hands a little dirty. Class Fee: $60 - You can pay Ali in person cash or Venmo.

It’s weird. It’s wonderful. It’s a little unhinged in the best possible way. Sunday Socials returns July 5th with Company Swing — a female-led Asheville ensemble bringing jazz, blues, swing, and old-school Americana charm into the garden the day after the Fourth.
Led by Anne Coombs, the group blends timeless musicianship with high-energy rhythm, rich vocals, and the kind of sound that feels made for summer evenings, string lights, and one more drink before heading home.
Expect an easy afternoon of live music, picnic setups, cocktails, and a little vintage Americana woven through the garden. Blankets, lawn hangs, soft linens, red lipstick, old soul energy…all welcome here.

Low Light Sessions with Mad Mike takes over the garden the last Friday of every month.
As the lights drop and the garden shifts into after-dark mode, Asheville DJ and multi-instrumentalist Mad Mike (Mike Martinez) takes over from 6:30–9:30 PM with genre-bending sets that slide through blues, funk, salsa, soul, hip hop, trap, and whatever else feels right in the moment.

Terrarium Class
Join Ali, Haiku’s resident garden guide, for a relaxed, beginner-friendly terrarium workshop in the garden at Haiku AVL.
This class is designed for anyone curious about plant care and design — no experience needed. You’ll learn the basics of building and maintaining a terrarium, then create your own to take home.
Class Fee: $50 (You can pay Ali in person, cash or Venmo. Click the button below to hold your spot)
